Project Description

Game Raiders of The Lost ARChive was designed for White Night festival 2013 in Brussels. This game is example of successful GAMIFICATION of an old city cultural institution. We transformed 4 centuries old archive into playful arena where almost 700 players during one night participated in experience that was part pervasive game and part live participatory performance. Raiders of the Lost Archive took players into the heart of collections-based heritage: the process of cataloguing, documenting and storing our memories and the ever-present threat of their destruction and disappearance. Aim was to provide an entertaining reminder of the crucial role that the City Archives play in preserving the cultural footprint and memory of a place and its inhabitants. The game was available in three languages (NL, Eng, Fr) and playable for adults (+ children accompanied by adults). It ran non-stop throughout the evening.
