RANDOM FRIENDS
Location: Belgrade / Trondheim
Authors: Elena Perez, Anders Lovlie, Bogdan Spanjevic
Imagine playing theatre as if it was a game – with the city streets as the stage and the arena. You are the actor; the city is the audience. What will you do?
This game was played simultaneously in Belgrade and Trondheim, in AvantGaarden Theatre and is actually a participative street performance enabled and moderated using mobile phones. Random Friends is a hybrid form, between digital and theatrical, that connects two teams on the North and South of the Europe – solving tasks together in real time on the streets of their cities. This project challenges traditional notions of theatre, spectatorship, and participation.
Citizens of Norway refused to join EU two times on referendums. Citizens of Serbia are not allowed to join EU although they would like. Who is right, who is wrong? Maybe we are all victims of the strange opposite breeds of the EU virus, causing uncritical acceptance or refusal of the EU. How we can cure, decontaminate, our societies and accept the real image of EU – not based on our fears or euphoria, but on reality?
