Munch Museum
We collaborated with the Munch Museum in Oslo during the Horizon 2020 project Gift – A Meaningful Personalization of Hybrid Virtual Museum Experiences Through Gifting and Appropriation. The GIFT project was an EU-funded research project in which a group of internationally renowned artists, designers, museum professionals, and researchers worked together. The project ran from 2017 to 2019 and has focused on hybrid experiences: Experiences that combine the physical and digital to create personal encounters with cultural heritage.
During the research process made together with our project partners – experts from the Mixed Reality Lab of the University of Nottingham and IT University Copenhagen, three main test iterations of the Sensitive Pictures prototype of the interactive emotion-detection audio guide has been made. During prototype tests performed in December 2018, June 2019, and October 2021, resulting n the final presentation of the project in January 2020 — we conceptualized and, together with museum curators, a refined unique concept of the audio guide that provokes and measures visitors’ emotions in real-time and adapts and personalizes their museum experiences accordingly.
MUSEIS a custom-made digital web platform was developed to enable visitors to enjoy audio experiences specially designed for this purpose – related to some of the most famous paintings of Edward Munch, including masterpieces such are The Scream or Madonna.
Project results have been published in several scientific journals and project reports.
