VIRTUAL MUSEUM OF JASENOVAC
Virtual Museum of Jasenovac is a digital project about the biggest and the most notorious concentration camp in Yugoslavia in World War II. The project was based on a threefold approach to this difficult theme carefully balancing information, education, and emotion to promote the culture of remembrance:
a.) We designed a digital app with special immersive video clips to present personal stories of some of the camp’s victims;
b.) We published a website with a large collection of historic documents, photographs and articles systematized uniquely, thus making the largest online library and database dedicated to Jasenovac concentration camps;
c.) Belgrade artist Viktor Kiš made an interactive, transmedia-enabled sculpture – „Iron Book“, accompanying digital application through tactile experience.
The project was done in cooperation with historians and curators of the Genocide Victim’s Museum in Belgrade and uses the museum’s large photo archive. The project was funded and supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia.
